Reach Your Weight Loss Goals with Fika and Semaglutide

Reach Your Weight Loss Goals Faster with Fika

Depending on your situation, losing weight could greatly improve your health and well-being. However, actually losing weight can be a daunting, and difficult task. Even coming up with a plan can be overwhelming, as there is so much information out there, but Fika is focused on solutions and one solution we provide is our new program with Semaglutide.

What is Semaglutide?

Maybe you’ve heard of Ozempic, Mounjaro, or Wegovy? Semaglutide was initially developed for as a treatment for Type 2 Diabetes as it helps maintain blood sugar levels and mimics a hormone produced in your pancreas that regulates food intake and appetite. Since then, this medication has been approved by the FDA as a weight loss aid. Essentially, Semaglutide has the capability to help you lose weight and improve your overall health by regulating the amount of food you eat, preventing overeating, and balancing your natural insulin production. Semaglutide can also lead to healthier blood sugar levels, which can help you feel more energetic and improve your overall health!

How does Semaglutide work?

The hormone Semaglutide imitates is called GLP-1, which slows down the speed at which food moves through the small intestine. This can help you feel full faster and longer. Appetite suppression can be a healthy part of your plan to lose weight if done safely, correctly, and with the help of trained professionals. Appetite suppressants aren’t designed to completely eliminate your desire to eat food, but make it easier to only eat what you need to sustain your body.

How much weight can someone lose with Semaglutide?

Everybody is different, so we can’t say exactly how much weight you will lose if you use Semaglutide. However, we can look at clinical trials for some insight. One study saw those who used Semaglutide lost an average of 12.4% of their initial body weight compared to individuals who received a placebo. Another study saw those who used the medication lost 6.2% of their initial body weight compared to those who received a placebo. Without knowing the specifics, the data suggests that taking Semaglutide can lead to significant weight loss.

Who shouldn’t take Semaglutide to lose weight?

Semaglutide should not be taken by anyone with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2), as there is an increased risk of developing thyroid C-cell tumors. Also, those who are pregnant or are planning on becoming pregnant should avoid Semaglutide. If you’re unsure about taking this medication, don’t hesitate to reach out and we can determine together if you’re a good fit!

What are the side effects of Semaglutide?

The majority of guests suffer from mild but tolerable side effects. Dosage adjustments can also be made to help reduce those effects throughout treatment. The most common side effects are related to GI upset. Gas, abdominal pain, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, and burping, but also fatigue, dizziness, or headaches. Symptoms usually subside with continued and consistent use of the medication, however, our team at Fika will be available to answer any questions, should uncommon symptoms arise.
